Senior Dance Company focuses on technique, strength, flexibility, and musicality as dancers learn choreography to popular music in the styles of contemporary, jazz, modern, and lyrical. Classes will include ballet barre exercises to teach proper alignment and positioning. Senior Dancers should be familiar with basic steps such as a grapevine, chasse, chaine turn, ball change, three step turn, jazz squares, pivots, and pas de bouree (“back-side-front”) pirouttes grand jetes and be ready to learn more advanced turns and leaps. Dancers who would like to progress more quickly are strongly encouraged to enroll in classical ballet to develop better technique.
Instructor Marissa Reeves
Marissa is classically trained in the Ceccetti style of ballet as well as jazz, tap and lyrical dance. She was Assistant Coach of the Alvernia University Dance Squad and on the Reading Fightin' Phils minor league baseball dance team.
