Your 4-5 year old will practice ballet basics and dance movement with this fun beginning dance program. Using barre, floor, and center work we learn ballet positions and ballet terminology including port de bras, plie, releve, tendu, battement, bourre, passe, retire, saute, arabesque, chasse, and chaine. The class includes stretching and simple follow along routines to children’s songs and classical music. Pre-Ballet II also includes beginner tumbling techniques! This class is intended for children who were old enough to qualify for pre-kindergarten or kindergarten.
Our philosophy is that dance is for everyone, and as a result we respect the varying developmental phases of children and recognize that not everyone will be following along perfectly all of the time. That’s okay! This class is about exploring movement and having fun.
APPROPRIATE DANCE ATTIRE: Students should wear a black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Boys may wear a black or white T-shirt and athletic shorts/pants/sweats, but nothing too baggy. Ballet shoes are made of leather or canvas and have a flexible leather sole or a split leather sole and should fit properly. Ballet shoes can be purchased at Amazon, Walmart, Target, Dance Wear Etc in Salisbury, Zappos.com, or DiscountDance.com.
