Introduce your 2-3 year old to ballet basics and dance movement with this fun beginning dance program. Includes ballet positions at the barre, plie, relevee, tendu, stretching, gross motor movement, children’s music, classical music, and repetition of simple, follow-along dance routines. This class requires one adult to actively participate with the child.

Our philosophy is that dance is for everyone, and as a result we respect the varying developmental phases of children and recognize that not everyone will be following along perfectly all of the time.  That’s okay!  This class is about exploring movement and having fun.

APPROPRIATE DANCE ATTIRE: Students should wear a black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Boys may wear a black or white T-shirt and athletic shorts/pants/sweats, but nothing too baggy. Ballet shoes are made of leather or canvas and have a flexible leather sole or a split leather sole and should fit properly. Ballet shoes can be purchased at Amazon, Walmart, Target, Dance Wear Etc in Salisbury, Zappos.com, or DiscountDance.com.

Instructor:  Anna Trattner

Anna Trattner just recently graduated from the University of Tampa with a BA in Applied Dance (dance education). She began dancing at the age of 4 and has been trained in a variety of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, contemporary, hip-hop, musical theater, improvisation, lyrical and modern. She competed in regional and national dance competitions for 8 years where her team won multiple titles at both levels. She also worked as a character and performer at western theme park Frontier Town. While in college, Anna studied the brain-compatible teaching methods of Anne Green Gilbert and she had the opportunity to perform and choreograph for a variety of campus and community events. She also became a part of the National Dance Educators Organization and was able to attend conventions with other dancers and teachers from all over the United States. Since earning her degree, she has been teaching a variety of classes with a Tampa-based company called Creative Movement and Dance before moving back home to Ocean City. Anna is excited to share her love of dance and her passion for teaching with the students at Red Doors.
