Saturdays 11:30-12:15

5 weeks January 11, 18, February 1, 8, 15

Registration priority for the Spring 2020 classes will be given to students who participate in the Winter Session. Parents must sign students up for the spring session by January 31st or they will lose their early access.

Instructor:  Anna Trattner

In this class students will be introduced to the basic foundation steps of tap. This class will be very focused on helping dancers begin to understand what rhythm is. Dancers will learn fun and easy combinations and play games that will aid in their learning. Rhythm and timing is a foundation for all other forms of dance and this class will help dancers develop their own sense of rhythm while creating music with their feet and having fun.

Our philosophy is that dance is for everyone, and as a result we respect the varying developmental phases of children and recognize that not everyone will be following along perfectly all of the time.  That’s okay!  This class is about exploring movement and having fun.

APPROPRIATE DANCE ATTIRE: Students should wear a black leotard, pink tights, and Black tap shoes. Boys may wear a black or white T-shirt and athletic shorts/pants/sweats, but nothing too baggy.  Tap shoes can be purchased at Amazon,  Dance Wear Etc in Salisbury, Zappos.com, or DiscountDance.com.

Anna Trattner just recently graduated from the University of Tampa with a BA in Applied Dance (dance education). She began dancing at the age of 4 and has been trained in a variety of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, contemporary, hip-hop, musical theater, improvisation, lyrical and modern. She competed in regional and national dance competitions for 8 years where her team won multiple titles at both levels. She also worked as a character and performer at western theme park Frontier Town. While in college, Anna studied the brain-compatible teaching methods of Anne Green Gilbert and she had the opportunity to perform and choreograph for a variety of campus and community events. She also became a part of the National Dance Educators Organization and was able to attend conventions with other dancers and teachers from all over the United States. Since earning her degree, she has been teaching a variety of classes with a Tampa-based company called Creative Movement and Dance before moving back home to Ocean City. Anna is excited to share her love of dance and her passion for teaching with the students at Red Doors.
